Increasingly, questions are asked about the weather on the coast of Sintra in winter, spring, summer, and autumn. Sometimes, it is difficult to predict the weather in these places even a few days ahead. Due to the influence of the ocean on climatic conditions, it can be warm during the day, and in the evening, you will have to wear warm clothes even at the end of summer to protect yourself from the cool ocean breeze..
Autumn is, probably, the best time to visit Sintra. At this time of the year, you can enjoy the gentle sun, still warm but not very hot, comfortable water temperature, and a pleasant light breeze. At the same time, there are not so many people on the beach. It is almost impossible to predict the weather with a 100% chance there. However, we can provide an approximate weather forecast based on our weather analysis for the past few years.
Ideal weather for a comfortable stay: SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, and NOVEMBER
When to go to Sintra if you want to surf, enjoy the warm but not hot sun, and relax on the ocean? Of course, at the beginning of autumn! There are less visitors compared to the summer months. Wind is stable but not sharp. It creates excellent conditions for surfers.
In the middle and end of autumn, the weather is still very comfortable for a holiday in Sintra. Rainy days happen more often, but there are much fewer people on the beach. There are many other interesting things to do in this place besides the beach. Comfortable temperature allows you to practice both water and other sports and visit interesting places in the city or its surroundings.
Struggle of sun and cold winter winds: DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY
Autumn ends with a drop in temperature and an increase in rainfall. A winter storm can occur several times a month. It is usually accompanied by rain, strong, cold winds, and temperatures around 10°C. However, during the rest of the time, clouds are not often seen in the sky. Although the day is warm, the nights can be chilly, but the apartments will help keep you warm thanks to central heating or a cup of tea by the fireplace. By the end of winter, there are much more warm sunny days and less cloudy weather.

Sintra weather in early spring: MARCH, APRIL
Some visitors love to come here in the first 2 months of spring. During this time of year, the temperature rises significantly, but just in case, it is worth taking a couple of jackets with you. In spring, Sintra is not very crowded. This is a great time to enjoy the beach or see the city sights before Easter. If you want to come for the holidays, make sure to book a room in advance to get the most out of the low prices and be the first to arrive.
Warm and wild: MAY, JUNE
Those who want to spend their holidays on the beach can visit Sintra in May or June. The temperature is consistently high both in late spring and early summer. There is almost no rain. On average, the rainfall is about 11 mm. The temperature rarely drops below 21°C. Sunny weather, a small number of people, warm but not hot air — all this awaits you in May and June in Sintra.
Very warm but not hot: JULY, AUGUST
Spending holidays on the beach in the middle and end of summer can be a good idea because of the fact that despite rather high temperatures, it does not get hot here. You are unlikely to use air conditioning. It is difficult to find even a single cloud in the July sky, but strong winds are quite common.
The uniqueness of Sintra's climatic conditions is that when the temperature in the Portuguese capital can exceed 30°C in summer, we often have foggy days with moderate temperature conditions. This is because the ocean air is concentrated in this place due to the pressure difference, and the hills do not allow enough wind to pass through to disperse the fog. Therefore, residents of Lisbon and other cities often come to Sintra to take a break from the hot weather in the center of the country. But if you want to enjoy the warmth of the sun, you can wait until noon or go to another beach, which is very close, and the walk takes a few tens of minutes. The foggy morning and evening of Sintra do not spoil the rest on the ocean but, on the contrary, give this place its zest.
